“But he’s so unique, I’ve never worked with anyone like him, he just wants to get the ball and beat people, however many there are, he can do it.” Ian Holloway

CRYSTAL PALACE striker Wilfried Zaha has been handed a first full-international call up for England the day after his 20th birthday.

Zaha, 20, is one of the hottest properties in England and is learning his trade in the Championship with Palace. A string of dazzling efforts for the Eagles have earned him an England call-up for the friendly with Sweden and he looks set to make his international debut in Wednesday’s match.

There is still a chance he could still commit to Ivory Coast, he describes the chances of doing so as “50/50” at the moment, but on his own career it would appear as if Zaha feels he has the world at his feet.

“Unless I’m looking at Ronaldo or Messi, I’d never look at someone else and think he’s better than me,” Zaha told the Daily Mail.

He went on to say;

“I think about the Premier League all the time, wondering when I’m going to come up against better defenders,” he said. “I don’t think I’ve come up against a defender when I’ve thought ‘What can I do to get past this guy?’

“If it was Ashley Cole I would be working it all out before the game, knowing he would stick tight to me. I’d drift inside and then run at him. Maybe he’ll be able to deal with it, but that’s when I can test him, isn’t it? That’s my time.”

Palace have slapped a £20 million price tag on Zaha’s head but it is not something that will weigh him down.

He said: “I see people criticising, when they are thinking like, ‘£20 million? My a**e’, but I never put a price tag on my head.

“I remember when people were saying Palace should sell me for £1 million because I wouldn’t do anything in the game – that was hard. The Premier League is where I want to go but I’m not saying I want to leave Palace right now.”

BBC Breakfast’s Susanna Reid singing the Crystal Palace FC song – “He’s just too good for you” in honour of Wilfried Zaha’s call up to the England squad.

The Palace Chairman Steve Parish has promised Ian Holloway that not even £20M would tempt the club to sell their star.

“If someone came in with £20m to spend then it would be very difficult to turn down but we might still say no,” said Parish.

“Wilfried is our talisman, the best player in this league. My plan for January is to turn my phone off and go into hibernation. Then I won’t be able to listen to any offers and we will come out of the month intact.

“As for money to spend, Ian isn’t throwing names at me. He has a great group of players here. He will tweak the squad and make it better.
