Ridgewell Appoligise’s For Wiping His Ass With money | Premier League

Westbrom defender, Liam Ridgewell, has apologized to football fans after a photo of him wiping his backside with a wad of £20 (Sh 2600)) notes in the toilet was published by a British newspaper.

‘The photo was taken in the privacy of my home around eight months ago as a joke to wind up a mate, who I had just won a personal bet with,’ he said.

I only intended him to see the photo but now it’s public, I can understand how it will be viewed. I am sorry for any offence it causes.’

His agent Rob Segal told Mail Online today: ‘All I can say is, it was a joke that actually wasn’t funny at all, it was intended as a private joke with his friends and he sincerely regrets it.’

The Premier League footballer  was photographed squatting over the toilet in the bathroom of his £1.5million(Sh I95 million) home in Barnt Green, Birmingham, with his trousers down.

Ridgewell, 28, earns around £20,000 (Sh 2.6million) a week – the average annual salary.

According to the Daily Mail, angry West Brom fans labelled the picture ‘arrogant’ and ‘idiotic’.

The offensive picture was sent to a newspaper  by a supporter who asked not to be named.

He said: ‘The people of West Bromwich earn a fraction of what this idiot earns yet he makes a mockery of his good fortune like this. It makes me sick.

Ridgewell’s teammates yesterday cemented his embarrassment by plastering his locker with toilet roll and posting a photo of it on Twitter.

West Brom player Steven Reid posted the picture along with the comment, ‘Guess the locker…….’

The star is no stranger to controversy.

Last year, he cancelled his £170,000 (Sh 22.1 million)wedding to 23-year-old Kirsty Maclaren, mother of his two children, eight days before the big day.

He informed the 200 guests by text that the nuptials were cancelled.

Stop taking the p*ss out of John Terry | Jon Richardson

Jon Richardson Chats To ZOO About Footballers, Anxiety And Groupies!

Jon Richardson, host of Channel 4’s Stand Up For The Weekteam captain on 8 Out Of 10 CatsEdinburgh Comedy Award nominee, best-selling author, raconteur, and modern day heart-throb, will be releasing hisdebut DVD Funny Magnet on 19th November from Universal Pictures (UK). Funny Magnet is Jon’s highly anticipated first DVD release and set to become the break-through must have stand-up comedy DVD of the year.

In an interview with Zoo Magazine Jon discussed  comedy,  football,Twitter and was asked;

Do you get much attention in general?
Occasionally. A builder once pulled me up and told me to stop taking the p*ss out of John Terry. So I told him to tell John Terry to stop sleeping with other people’s wives.

Do footballers give you some good material?
Sometimes, but doing the sport section on Stand Up For The Week was tricky on occasions. I remember the week Osama Bin Laden got shot. Every comedian in the country was talking about it and I was scratching around for something Ashley Cole had said on Twitter!

What are your thoughts on Twitter?
I feel obliged to be on it. But if you write a joke and it’s funny, you think, “I should have saved that for my act.”

Reporter Gutted After 6,000 mile Trip | Football

Elgin City Football Club , Borough Briggs Stadium

A football reporter from Japan has travelled over 6,000 miles to cover Glasgow Rangers’ match at Elgin City, only to find it had been postponed when he arrived.

Writing for Footballista Magazine in Tokyo, sports reporter Daisuke Nakajima spent 14 hours on a plane and 5 on a train to get to Borough Briggs Stadium.

Upon his arrival, he discovered that because more tickets were sold than the terrace could hold, the game had been called off for safety measures.

Security feared that more than 1,000 extra fans would turn up for the Sunday fixture, according to The Mirror.

Nakajima said: “It was a very tiring, wasted journey. There are a lot of fans of Scottish football in Japan and the story of Rangers is of great interest.”

The reporter then attempted to interview Elgin City officials but was unsuccessful. He did, however, cherish the photos he took of his trip.

Joey Barton Talks With Funny French Accent After Debut For Marseille | Football

QPR loanee Joey Barton finally made his league debut for French outfit Marseille on Sunday, helping his side move level on points with leaders Paris Saint-Germain in the process.

Barton wasted little time in picking up his first caution in French football, as the QPR midfielder was booked after 22 minutes for a strong challenge on Florent Balmont.
But the Englishman settled well into the match, and so too did Marseille.
Balmont was red-carded before the break after chopping down Valbuena when the Frenchman was through on Landreau’s goal

Very bizarrely though during a post match press conference when answering questions from the local press he talked with a weird French accent.

“Steve MaClaren eat your heart out…,” Barton quipped on Twitter, referencing former England boss Steve McClaren’s use of a Dutch accent after he took over at FC Twente for the first time in 2008.

He added: “In my defence, it is very difficult to do a press conference in Scouse for a room full of French journalists.”

“The alternative is to speak like a ‘Allo Allo!’ character which is choose. Its simply a case of you had to be there. #youstupidwomen!

“I am christening this new language Bartonese. Steeeeevvvveeee would be proud!”

Snoopy Sloop |Toy boat to set off on Atlantic crossing | Sailing

A retired Nato scientist will this week launch his toy boat on what he hopes will be the first unmanned trip across the Atlantic.

Robin Lovelock has spent four years developing a craft which he believes can survive the 6,000 mile journey.

The Snoopy Sloop is only 4ft long, weighs just 30lbs and is held together in parts by bathroom light cord, reports the Daily Telegraph.

But it has already demonstrated its endurance, having completed more than 5,000 miles of almost continuous sailing, on Bray Lake, near Windsor, over seven months.

Now it faces a more testing voyage, battling the seas, and possibly storms, of the North Atlantic, despite being a fraction of the size of shipping which normally makes the winter crossing.

Mr Lovelock, 65, built the boat in the games room of his house in Sunninghill, Berkshire, from off-the-shelf parts scoured from the internet at a cost of less than £450.

The boat will be powered by the wind, but navigated by a solar-powered computer and GPS system.

These will steer the boat on a route along the Channel, then south towards the Azores to catch the trade winds to the Bahamas and onwards to land near where the Pilgrim Fathers came ashore at Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Mr Lovelock has been assisted by a group of friends, he has described as his “Last of the Summer Wine” team, including a former veteran of the Robot Wars BBC television show.

“I got hooked about four years ago,” he said. “I didn’t even play with model boats when I was a boy. I sometimes tinker on the boat in the lounge, but am usually banished to the games room by my wife.”

The attempt is being made as part of an international contest, the Microtransat Challenge, to become the first to send an unmanned boat from south of Ireland to the Bahamas.

Ali Al-Habsi’s Comical Own Goal Gives ‘Butterfingers’ New Meaning | Premier League

Ali Al-Habsi made one of the all-time worst blunders on Saturday. The Wigan goalkeeper mishandled what should have been a routine catch in his goalmouth and fumbled the ball into his own goal. Unfortunatly, Al-Habsi’s gaffe took place in an English Premier League game — the world’s richest and most watched soccer league — and made headlines and blooper reels around the world.
